Will Scrimshaw
Will Schrimshaw is an artist-researcher from Wakefield living in North Shields. Often working with sound amidst a larger vibrational continuum, his work is broadly concerned with the invisible determinants of space and place. This work is carried out according to a programme of atmospheric research which investigates the subliminal influence of backgrounds, ambiences and atmospheres. More specifically, this atmospheric research is carried out through working with sound, light and air.

While at Foundry Lane, Will is beginning work on a project entitled Invisible Architectures, which seeks to investigate the invisible yet nonetheless influential elements of urban experience. This project is aimed at bringing together artists, architects, writers and thinkers who are interested in the invisible aspects or layers of the city, whether this be its sonic, haptic, olfactory, thermic or electromagnetic qualities. The intention is to invite people to lead workshops and participatory events that will happen as part of a weekend festival in Newcastle and be executed on foot and in public spaces throughout the city, investigating its influence as a physical and subliminal substrate upon the psychological and social.
