Alex Charrington
After graduating from Newcastle University in 2005 I became resident artist at xsite architecture as part of Arts Council’s Artist Placement programme in 2006. Since then I have kept a studio at Foundry Lane, continuing my practice in painting. From this platform I have exhibited with organisations such as Locus Plus and Baltic Centre for contemporary Art. Outside the gallery space I have worked with Commissions North and The Sponsors Club for Arts and Business to complete two large-scale public art commissions for Gateshead College and Newcastle Building Society. During the start of 2009 I received a Journal Culture Award and was selected to exhibit in the Northern Print Biennale; the UK’s biggest overview of print for two decades.
