Brief/
To create workspace for accelerating Digital Media and Technology companies in a building that would identify Bohozone as a regeneration project, promote a ‘community’ or creative cluster and promote within the design visual and physical connections that encourage networking and knowledge transfer to help reinforce the mentoring and fostering principles of the brief originator theDigitalCity. The building had to perform to very high standards environmentally.
Design/
Over the course of a 66 week contract using a NEC3 form of contract an innovative and unusual building has been built. The design achieved a BREEAM Excellent scoring under Assessment using good daylight, thermal mass, efficient fittings and equipment and lastly wind turbines and a ground source Heat Pump closed loop system as renewable energy sources. Colour, shape and event characterise the common spaces that hang off the building connected at upper levels by external bridges and surround effective simple office space.
