Brief/
Tyneside Cinema became a Listed Building in October 2000. Just prior to that a decision had been taken to redevelop the frontage of the cinema to create a café/bar in the old arcade space on Pilgrim Street. It was awarded a Grainger Town Shopfront Grant to match Northern Arts and Newcastle City funding.
Design/
A pavement café and the reestablishment of the original neon canopy to the building makes this project a strong contributor to the regeneration of the City Centre. Intermezzo is a Gusto (UK) brand and reinforced their strong links with cultural buildings in the city.grim Street.
