Brief/
A neglected shell was converted 20 years ago by the County Council and was in need of updating both as a contemporary arts centre and to become accessible moving towards DDA compliance in 2004.

Design/
A Development Strategy Study was produced by xsite architecture in March 2002. Following on from this the Phase 1 development to renovate the entrance foyer and gallery spaces to provide clear, open and accessible spaces was completed in May 2003.  This was followed in 2004 by a theatre refit to improve the performance space.  Phase 3, the renovation of the North Wing to provide lettable units for creative industries, was completed in March 2008.
