Brief/
A 1980's warehouse situated east of Middlesbrough Town Centre, the site sits on the esge of the Middlehaven regenerations area and within site of xsite's BoHo ONE building. Following a fesability study in 2008, the brief emerged to retain the warehouse structure, converting it to provide 25,00 square feet of office space for speculative letting.
Design/
The introduction of a new mezzanine structure provides floor space for offices organised around a central atrium ‘street’. A rooflight lantern projects through the apex of the warehouse roof, providing daylight tot the deep building plan and forming a striking feature in the building roofscape. External over-cladding with black profiled metal provides a faint pin-stripe aesthetic, with projecting vertical box windows and coloured reveals creating a bold adaptation of the industrial aesthetic.
