Oak Meadows is a new residential scheme for a 2.5 hectare site in the village of Middleton St George. The development will provide 61 new homes, in a mix of three and four bed properties. A semi rural context, presence of mature trees along the southern boundary and clear southern aspect, along with good transport links, make the site an ideal and attractive setting for residential development.
The tree-lined boundary along Yarm Road, is a key feature of the site. Retention of trees and maintaining a sense of this tree line was a driving factor in a number of early decisions regarding access and layout. The focus in development of the design was a desire to create diversity of house types and external spaces across the site - with careful consideration of aspect and amenity for each individual dwelling - giving distinctive character to the homes and helping to create a sense of place within the development.
All properties have gardens to the rear, with additional private amenity space provided by incorporating upper floor terraces in appropriate locations, to maximise views of the tree-lined boundaries and long distant views to the south. The scheme seeks to create a contemporary, high quality architectural language, based on a traditional building form, with a refined palette of robust materials.
The project received planning approval in September 2018.
